Richard (Jerry) Haworth - B.Bus.Sc. (Hons), ACMA
Principal, CEO, CIO, Co-Founder
Jerry is well known for his thought leadership in the volatility space. He often represents the Firm as a speaker at high profile educational and professional events, and is a frequent guest speaker and writer on volatility in the financial media.
Prior to co-founding 36 South in 2001 in New Zealand, Jerry was instrumental in the establishment of the futures and options market in South Africa. He served as an Executive Member of the South African Futures Exchange. He also traded government bonds for a large discount house before being appointed Head of Equity Derivatives for one of South Africa’s largest and most successful merchant banks, Investec Ltd. In 1996, Jerry founded Peregrine Holdings Ltd. The company offered a range of services including stock-broking, futures and options broking, pension fund structuring and financial software development to South Africa’s large financial institutions but its main niche was designing derivative strategies for institutional clients normally packaged as a structured note. Peregrine enjoyed phenomenal early success under his management culminating in a stock exchange listing in 1998 in which the value of the company soared over 400% on IPO.
Jerry has a Bachelor of Business Science degree from the University of Cape Town (South Africa), is a member of the Association of Chartered Management Accountants and has passed the Series 3 US National Commodity Futures Exam.
Richard Hollington - B.Bus.Sc. (Hons), CAIA
Principal, PM, Head of Trading & Execution, Co-Founder
Prior to co-founding 36 South in 2001 in New Zealand, Richard helped to set up the gold derivatives desk at Commonwealth Bank in Sydney. Before moving to Australia in 1997, he was based in South Africa where he established the foreign exchange options desk at First National Bank (then the country's second largest bank) and became the country's first market maker in Rand/Dollar options. Richard extended the foreign exchange business to incorporate gold hedging for the South African mining houses and market making in long dated currency options for corporate hedging. He was also instrumental in establishing a Rand interest rate swaps desk and a commodity trading desk for the bank.
Richard obtained a Bachelor of Business Science degree from the University of Cape Town (South Africa). He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) charter holder and has passed the Series 3 US National Commodity Futures Exam.
Anthony Limbrick - M.App.Fin., CAIA
Principal, PM, Head of Quantitative Research
Anthony has authored a number of client articles and papers in industry publications on topics such as volatility investing, and volatility benchmarking. He is also a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars and often appears as a guest speaker on broadcast media dedicated to industry-specific topics.
Anthony is currently Chairman of the New Zealand Absolute Return Association (NZARA), the organisation representing the alternative investment management industry in New Zealand.
Prior to joining 36 South in March 2006, Anthony worked for a variety of global financial organisations including Deutsche Bank (formerly Bain & Co.) and HSBC in Sydney, Credit Lyonnais in Tokyo, and Bank of New Zealand in Wellington as well as his own firm, Pure Capital Limited, specialising in uncorrelated investment strategies.
Anthony holds a Master of Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University (Australia). He has passed the National Commodity Futures Exam (Series 3) and Branch Manager's Exam (Series 30). He is also the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) holder, and an ASCI member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (CISI).
Neale Jackson - MEntr(Distinction), BSc, HDE (PGUEd), AFA
Prior to joining 36 South, Neale published his research and ideas via his newletter Quantitative Musing; a freelance options-focused report that explored micro- and macro-economic fundamentals. Before launching his research publication, Neale was Head of Equities at OMF Financial in New Zealand which included establishing a new CFD division as well as re-developing the Equities and Equity derivatives division. Before embarking on his career in the financial markets, Neale was a maths teacher.
Neale holds a Master in Entrepreneurship degree from University of Otago (New Zealand), and a Bachelor of Science from Rhodes University (South Africa). Neale has also passed the National Commodity Futures Exam (Series 3).

Michael Tasker - B.Bus.Sc. (Hons)
Principal, COO, Risk Manager, CCO, MLRO
Prior to joining 36 South, Michael worked as the Sales and Business Development Manager for Foresight Group, an HR consulting company in New Zealand. Before that, he worked for Kinex Enterprises, a foreign exchange transfer company in Zimbabwe.
Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Business Science degree from Rhodes University (South Africa) and has passed the US Series 3 National Commodity Futures Examination.
